1. Piccolo bottle/quart bottle
The piccolo/quart bottle is only 1/4 the size of a standard bottle and has a capacity of 187.5 ml. In some crowded occasions, such as airplanes, stadiums, or nightclubs, you can often see single glass champagne or sparkling wine using this bottle.
2. Half bottle
The French call this bottle "Fillette" and its capacity is 375 milliliters. Many semi bottled wines use corks, but it is important to note that wine ripens faster in small bottles. Therefore, even with good aging potential, half bottled wines are not suitable for prolonged aging.
3. Standard bottle
Until today, we cannot know for sure why the standard wine bottle is 750 milliliters, but this does not prevent it from becoming a global unified standard.
4. Magnum bottle
The capacity of Magnum bottle is equivalent to two standard bottles, which is 1.5 liters. This is the only wine bottle that will not have a different name due to different production areas. In other words, whether in Burgundy, Bordeaux, or Champagne, a 1.5 liter bottle is called "Magnum.". The name comes from the Latin word "Magnus," meaning "larger.". In addition to being able to hold more wine, this type of wine bottle can also slow down the ripening rate of the wine in the bottle, giving the wine a richer fruity aroma. In addition, this type of wine bottle has an advantage that air is not easy to enter the bottle due to the large amount of alcohol in the bottle.
5. Double Magnum bottle
Double Magnum bottles, as the name suggests, have a capacity equivalent to 2 Magnum bottles and 4 standard bottles, with a capacity of 3 liters. In the Champagne region of France, the double Magnum bottle is also known as the "Jeroboam bottle.". The name derives from the name of the first king of the Northern Kingdom of Israel in 922-921 BC. Due to the rarity of double Magnum bottles, the price is also relatively higher. The price of a double Magnum bottle for the same wine is four times as much as a standard bottle.
6. Loboam bottle
The Loboan bottle, also known as the Jewish King bottle, has a capacity of 4.5 liters, equivalent to six standard bottles. In Bordeaux, the Loboan bottle is also known as the "Jeroboan bottle", which is the double Magnum bottle in Burgundy. Therefore, consumers are often confused. It must be mentioned that Rehoboam was the king of the Great Unified Monarchy of Israel, that is, the later Kingdom of Judah. After the resistance of ten northern tribes in Israel, he established an independent kingdom of Israel. This 4.5 liter bottle of wine is extremely rare, and typically only top wineries prepare it for guests' needs, and it is usually bottled manually.
7. Royal Bottle
In Bordeaux, this 6-liter bottle, which is equivalent to eight standard bottles, is called a "royal bottle", while in Burgundy and other regions, it is called a "Matuselah bottle.". Methuselah was taken from the grandfather of Noah, the king of Israel. He is the oldest person in the Bible, aged 969.
8. Assyrian Vase
The Assyrian King bottle is a 9-liter bottle, equivalent to 12 standard bottles, commonly used in wine producing regions such as Bordeaux, Champagne, and Burgundy in France. Assyrian King was the king of ancient Syria, but there are very few historical records about him, and people can only commemorate him through wine bottles.
